Dear Club Supporter,  

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year and as a community, we look forward to a positive year ahead for our Club. The development of our facilities at Dromakee is now well under way. The Club enjoyed a very successful hurling year in 2016 both at underage and minor level and as a Club, we plan to build on this success in 2017.

Crotta O’Neills appreciates its loyal supporters and we would like to thank you for your continued support. Within this 1st newsletter of 2017, please see an overview of Club events (past and upcoming) as well as some work being undertaken by the Club.

New Club Website

2017 got off to a good start with the launch of the new Crotta O’Neills website. This will be managed in house. The objective of the website is to provide regular updates about the Club’s activities in general and of course all fixtures and events. All feedback pertaining to the new website is welcome and can be provided to all Club Officials. The new website’s address is crottagaa.club   …so browse to the website and have a look!

Club and Field Development

The outstanding elements from Phase 1 will be completed over the next few months, weather permitting.This includes completion of the Training Areas and completion of the outer wall plastering of the existing dressing rooms.

It is proposed that Phase 2 will include the construction of a hurling ball wall with astro turf and perimeter fencing as well as flood lighting around the ball wall area.

The paper work for the Sports Capital Grant is currently been worked on and if successful, the Club will schedule this work accordingly.

Upcoming Events

Crotta O’Neills Hurling Club Minor Victory Social

All roads will lead to Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Saturday 4th February 2017 to commemorate the Minor Hurling Team on their historic victory at Austin Stacks Park on Sunday 11th September 2016 in the County Championship.

Also honoured on the night will be the 1992 victorious Crotta U21 County Championship Team.

Awards on the night will also be presented to a very worthy Hall of Fame recipient, Club Person of the Year and Minor and Senior Player of the Year awards.

Proceedings will commence at 7.30pm sharp. Derek McGrath, Manager of the Waterford Senior Hurling Team, will be present on the night to facilitate with the presentations.

Entertainment on the night will be provided by The Real Deal Band followed by DJ till late. Tickets are €40 and can be purchased from the Kilflynn Post Office, Parkers Bar. Herberts Bar and the Half Way Bar. Club Officials are also selling tickets.

A bus will operate on the night from Kilflynn village to Ballyroe (at approx. 6.45pm) and home afterwards. Per person – the bus fee will be €3 to Ballyroe and €5 home to the door.

So don’t miss an opportunity to catch up with friends, enjoy wonderful food and entertainment and join us all to commemorate our players – a memorable night guaranteed.

Coiste na nÓg Awards Evening

Our underage players too will deservingly receive their medals in respect of their achievements in 2016. Traditionally this has been a wonderful night and is a brilliant opportunity for the Club to acknowledge and instil confidence and team spirit in the players of the Clubs future.

This year a special guest will complete the presentations. For now, it is planned to schedule this event towards the end of February/beginning of March 2017. Once confirmed, exact details will follow.

2017 Membership and Registration

It’s that time of year again when the registration process needs to be completed and the membership fees fall due. The fee structure for 2017 is currently been finalised.

Crotta O’Neills have been working with MyClubFinances.com to allow the payment of membership fees and the registration process to be completed online via or from the Club website crottagaa.club      This feature will be launched in the coming weeks – more details to follow. The Club will also facilitate a Registration Evening to support registration and collection of membership payments for members that cannot avail of the online system – more details to follow. With effect from 2017, the policy will be no cash to Cub Officials in respect of membership.

Crotta O’Neills AGM – Sunday 4th December 2016 at St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn

The AGM matters proceeded before a sizeable audience with updates from Club Officials and the Field Development and Communication Committees. Details of all officers elected to serve the Club in 2017 have been updated on the Club website crottagaa.club

 

Crotta Coiste na nÓg Wren – Monday 26th December 2016

This wonderful Club tradition would not have been possible without the musicians and Club members that set out on the Wren and the forever welcoming households within the community for their support and hospitality.

 

Over 40’s Charity Hurling Match – Tuesday 27th December 2016 in Abbeydorney

Both Crotta and Abbeydorney fielded excellent teams. However, in true spirit, the real winner on the day was the sporting attitude of all involved and the generous donations to the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus. It was an added bonus that the Crotta Team were victorious, without shadowing the real winner. Some lovely pictures are available within the Gallery section of the website crottagaa.club

 

Coiste na nÓg AGM – Saturday 7th January 2017 at St. Columbas Centre, Kilflynn

The matters proceeded with updates from the Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Details of all officers elected to serve Coiste na nÓg in 2017 have been updated on the Club website crottagaa.club
