John Joe Barrett
Another One of The Lads has crossed the great divide John Joe Barrett, a True Kilflynn Man, Has passed to his Eternal reward. Here was someone who for many years contributed a leading role in the every day life of our community. John Joe liked to be involved. He was always part of the Action.
Gifted Electrician, Staunch and Loyal Crotta Hurling Servant and Player- He Stood as Custodian Behind Cyril in The 1985 County Senior Final- Parkers Darts Team member of Style and Panache, with Naturally Several 180’s on His Record Sheet, Founder member of Kilflynn Boxing Club, Bouncer, Hare-Minder and Last but by no means least 31Card player of infinite variation!
And Never A Dull Moment. Of Course, Like many more of us, John Joe Had His Human weaknesses, and at Times could, perhaps, Be A Little Eccentric. If He Had One Outstanding Characteristic I Would Say It was His Willingness to help, No matter how Difficult or Inconvenient the Job. John Joe Liked to be asked, and if he could not Finish your job today, well, There was always next week after he finished that other Job before the Deadline.
Thought not in great Health for a number of years John Joe bore his crosses manfully, and remained active in local affairs until his final days. It Is Ironic that having just left his beloved Kilflynn to move into a New Home in Lixnaw He received the Final Call. To his wife Mary, his Son J.P, his Mother Josephine, his Brother, Liam, his Sister, Myra, Nearest and dearest we extend our Deepest Sympathy, in this, their hour of Sadness and Loss. We remember too, The True and Loyal Friends who stood by John Joe’s Side during his Darkest Hours.
John Joe may you rest in peace under the gentle sod of your native home Kilflynn. Ar Dheis De go Raibh A Anam Dilis.
