Larry White

Kilflynn, Crotta and The Rock has lost one of its great heroes with the recent passing of Larry White.
A tailor by trade, Larry was gentle-natured, good humoured and helpful to the many thousands who regularly called for repair work, advice and assistance, which Larry dispensed with expertise and professionalism.
An outstanding athlete, Larry had an abiding love for all sports, but particularly showed the White passion for his beloved G.A.A. In a long and varied career, Larry played senior and junior hurling with Kilflynn, Crotta and The Rock. He played senior and junior football with The Rock. He played senior hurling with Abbeydorney when Kilflynn joined with them. He won Minor hurling Championships with St. Patricks (Crotta and Abbeydorney) and with St. Michaels (Crotta and Lixnaw). In 1957 Kilflynn won an international hurling tournament and Larry played one of his most memorable games.
There was a poem written about that great occasion, which , given half the chance, Larry would recall with gusto and immense pride.
Among  the many team mates who played on the same teams with Larry, a brief  mention perhaps to recall some familiar and famous names.
Joe Joe Barrett, John Barry, Garry Scollard (The Rock), Michael Hickey, Laurence Toumey, Johnny Rohan, J.P. Toumey, Jimmy King, Mikey Joe King, Pats Hickey, John Cashell, John Weir, (Kilflynn)
Tom Kenny, Tom Cronin, James Driscoll, Jer Buckley, Paddy Connor, John Joe Nolan, Maush Donoghue. Thomas Egan, Monty Falvey, John Pa Harrington, (Crotta), Jerome Donovan, Tom Kearney, Jimmy Moloney, Terry Lawlor,Raymond Roche, Brendan Brosnan, Fr. Moss Connell and Fr. Tom Connell (Abbeydorney), Mick Lynch, Christy Connell, Tony Conway, Donall Connell, Sean Cronin, (Lixnaw)
There are many great stories about the sporting life of Larry White, funny incidents, great victories and occasions, and sometimes sad losses. Yet they all came alike to a great character, a wonderful and exempelary family man, who loved and treated all his fellow human beings with dignity and respect. We’ll miss you, Larry!
To his wife, family, and all his nearest and dearest, our deepest sympathy.
