The North Kerry Hurling Board U-13 B Final for the Michael O’Connell Memorial Shield took place in Abbeydorney on Tuesday 22nd August.
It was a very evenly contested game and Abbeydorney powered by Jack Hannon led by 4 points to 1 point after 10 minuets, however Crotta then took over and with Rory Mahony in excellent form got the next 6 points to lead at half time by 7 points to 4 points, with Sean McElligott getting Crotta’s other point.
Abbeydorney had slightly the better of the second half and reduced the deficit to 1 point, but Rory Mahony again had Crotta ahead before the Abbeydorney goalkeeper brought off a great save from Evan O’Sullivan.
Both goalkeepers had great games, with Donnacha Sayers in the Crotta goalie also making great saves. After a hard fought game in which Gary Dillon the Crotta full back and Seanie McElligott andRory Mahony further out the field, Crotta held on to win by 1 point, thereby winning North Kerry B championships three years in a row.
