ABBEYDORNEY/KILFLYNN COMMUNITY GAMES
Our annual sports evening wll be held in the Abbeydorney sportsfield on Thursday, May 17th beginning at 6.30 p.m. There will be events for children of all ages, from tiny tots to u-16’s. The girls u-14 and the boys u-12 long puck will also be held that evening. Novelty races will also be organised as these have proved to be the main highlight of our sports over the years. Please come along for a great evening of fun and enjoyment! Your support would be much appreciated.
CROTTA COISTE NA NOG NEWS
Crotta U12 teams made the short journey to play table toppers Abbeydorney in Abbeydorney last Friday evening 27th April. The first team lost on a scoreline of Abbeydorney 4-07 Crotta 1-01(Darragh O’Donoghue getting the scores). Abbeydorney are the best team in the division with a lot of their team on the age but the lads played well especially in the second half. Eamonn Rohan was outstanding. The Second team had a high scoring match with Abbeydorney’s second team but eventually lost on a scoreline of Crotta 6-02 Abbeydorney 8-05. Crotta will play Ballyheighue in two matches again this Friday at 7pm in Dromakee.
Crotta U14 took part in The Feile in Ballyduff on Saturday 28th April. They topped their Group beating Ballyheigue, Causeway and Kilmoyley. Scorers in the Ballyheigue match Dominic Nolan(2-00)Cathal Kennelly(2-00)Brandon Conway(1-04). Causeway match: Cathal Kennelly(1-02)Brandon Conway(0-03)Sean O’Donoghue(0-03)Tomas O’Connor(0-02)Darragh Kennelly(0-02)Dominic Nolan(1-00)Donal Hunt(0-01) Darragh O’Donoghue(0-01). Kilmoyley match Paudie Dillon(2-00) Cathal Kennelly(1-00) Brandon Conway(1-02) David Ryan(1-00).
Crotta have now qualified for the Feile semi final for the second year in a row.
Sympathy Crotta Coiste na nOg will like to express sincere sympathy to the Quinlan family Keel, Lixnaw on the death of Kathleen’s Father and Thomas’ Grandfather in Birdhill, Co Tipperary and also to the Hussey family in Cappa, Kilflynn on the death of Murty Hussey, Ahamore, Causeway. May they both Rest In Peace.
Community Games Hurling Well done to the Abbeydorney/Kilflynn Community Games Hurling team who won Silver medals and the Lixnaw Community Games Hurling team who won Bronze medals in the County Hurling Finals in Ballyduff last Saturday, 28th April. Abbeydorney/Kilflynn were represented by Tadhg McKenna,Cillan Baker and Eoin Relihan from the Crotta Hurling Club. Lixnaw were represented by Aodhan Behan Timmy Dillon Daniel Hunt Denis Nolan Cillian Trant Tomas Dillon David O’Connell Ryan Mc Elligott, Mikey Kelliher, Liam Roos who all play hurling with Crotta.
Well done to the Lixnaw Rugby Team coached by David Trant who won Gold medals at the County Rugby Finals. The following hurlers swapped their hurleys for the oval ball: Aodhan Behan Timmy Dillon Daniel Hunt Cillian Trant Tomas Dillon David O’Connell Ryan McElligott, Mikey Kelliher, Padraig Trant, Garry Dillon and Orla Dillon who all play hurling with Crotta.
U-06, U-08 and U-10 There will be No Training for the U-06, U-08, and U-10 hurlers this Friday evening 11th May due the Communion in Kilflynn on Saturday, We wish the children the best of luck who are recovering their first holy communion. Training will recommence on Wednesday evening 17th May 7- 8 pm in the sports field Dromakee, Kilflynn. New members are welcome.
CROTTA HURLING LOTTO RESULTS
The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer, Julie Conway, Laccamore, Kilflynn for the weekly Crotta Hurling Club Lotto draw were: 6,14,23 and 27 at Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn , on Monday 7th May, with a Jackpot of 6,800. However no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the Jackpot survived for another week.
