CROTTA FAMILY CYCLE
The Crotta Hurling Club are holding a supervised Cycle on Sunday 23rd September at 12.00 noon for Adults and Children on the Quiet roads from The Crotta Hurling Club House, Dromakee, Kilflynn ,passing Lixnaw and Abbeydorney Hurling Clubs and returning for Tea/Coffee and Refreshments in the Crotta Club house. COFFEE MORNING
A cup of coffee never goes astray especially if is in the morning and more so if it is for a good cause. On Thursday Sept 20th the All Ireland coffee morning will take place in aid of Hospice. Anyone who would like to host a coffee morning just contact Ted Moynihan at 087 670014 for a Bewley’s coffee pack. If you can’t host one yourself try and get to one in your area, there will be plenty of them around.

TITLES FOR KERRY U-14 & 15 HURLERS
Congratulations and well done to Crotta hurlers, Barry Mahony, Dylan McElligott, Brandon Conway, Colin Browne, Adam O’Sullivan and Thomas O’Connor who were members of the victories Kerry U-14 team that captured the Tony Forristal “B” Shield with a 3-06 to 1-06 over the host county, Laois in the final, on Saturday 1st September. Kerry played Kildare in their first group match, and got off to terrific start and led thoughout the game with scores from coming Eric Leen, Colin Browne and Dylan McCarthy secured a 3-08 to 0-06 victory. Kerry faced Meath next, Last year Kerry lost out to Meath in the semi final stage, A good start saw Kerry take the lead by half time following a great goal from Rory McNamara, Eric Leen was sidelined by a hamstring injury early in the second half, McNamara once again punished the defence early with another goal. This was then added by Shane Conway to push our lead to 7 points, but Meath hit a purple patch to take the game 2-08 to Kerry 3-02. With Kildare also losing to Meath, it placed Kerry in the shield semi final against Down which the Kingdom won 3-06 to 1-06 at Clonard GAA Club grounds, the sides were level at half time Kerry 1-01 to Down 0-04. The defenders played well in the second half with some great fielding by Barry Mahony. In the final, Kerry met the home County, Laois, following a few words from Jerome O’Sullivan and Maurice Leahy, the Kerry squad were all set for the final clash. Once again Fionan MacKessy controlled mid-field and delivered a great ball to Colin Browne who finished to the net. Kerry led at half time 1-02 to 0-02. The second half was hotly contested, with few scorers coming from either side. Kerry threatened the Laois goal on a number of occasions, with Shane Conway and Rory McNamara, but to avail. Shane Conway scored 2 frees, Daniel O’Brien showed great strength and skill to deliver ball to the forwards from the half back line on a number of occasions, leading by 4 points in the closing stages, Down were threatening the Kerry defence, but great fielding from Barry Mahony ensured Kerry the Victory in the Shield final. Great credit also to the Kerry backroom of Jerome O’Sullivan, David Leen, Michael O’Keefe, and Maurice Leahy.
Also Congratulations and well done to Crotta hurlers Darragh Regan, Adrian Mahony, Darragh Ryan, Jordan Conway who members of the victories Kerry team who won the Shield final of the Munster U-15 B Hurling Tournament on Saturday 1st September in Clarecastle, Co. Clare. Kerry had victory a 3-08 to 2-04 over Limerick in their first game, in the second game against Tipperary, Kerry were within a point a half time, thanks to impressive defending by Adrian Mahony and Brian Sullivan, however, Tipperary aided by a strong breeze in the second half went to win the game.
Kerry faced Waterford in the final, the Kingdom started the brighter with goals from Jamie McGrath, a succession of frees by Brandon Barrett and another Eoin Ross goal ensured victory on a 3-12 to 0-07 score line. Great credit also to the management of Tom O’Connor, Mike Foley, Timmy Weir and Ian Brick.

The Dancing classes recommenced again for this season on Monday 3rd September in St.Columbas Centre, Kilflynn. And will continued every Monday night at 9.00 p.m. Plenty of fun and exercise guaranteed. All Welcome.

MINOR HURLERS CAPTURED THE ALL IRELAND TITLE
Congratulations and well done to Tom B Mc Elligott and his Kerry Minor Hurling team mates who captured the All Ireland Minor B Championship title on Saturday 8th September at Gaelic Grounds, Limerick, with a 4-17 to 1-07 victory over Roscommon. Kerry led by 2-08 to 0-04 at half time. The Crotta hurling club was well represented on the victories team by Tom B Mc Elligott, at wing back.

U-8 BLITZ
Crotta U8 Hurlers participated in the North Kerry hurling board U8 Blitz in Abbeydorney on Friday evening 7th September and will play again on Friday evening 14th September at 6.00 pm till 7.00 pm. In week two of the blitz in Abbeydorney. Training as normal for U6/U8 and U10 hurlers this Wednesday 12th September at 7pm to 8pm. At the sports field, Dromakee, Kilflynn.

WEDDING BELLS
Heartiest Congratulations and best wishes to Siobhan Herbert, daughter of Joan and Pat Herbert, Castletown, Kilflynn and Paul O’Donoghue, son of Maureen and Frank O’Donoghue, Garrynagore, Lixnaw who were married in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Saturday 8th September. The ceremony was performed by Fr. Maurice Brick (Lixnaw P.P) and assisted by (Fr. Denis O’Mahony, (Abbeydorney P.P). The Bestman was Tom O’Donoghue and Groomsmen were John O’Donoghue, Sean O’Donoghue and Darragh O’Donoghue. The chief bridesmaid was Michelle McKenna and Bridesmaids were Grainne Herbert, Aoibhe McKenna and Ciara Houlihan. The Pageboy was Jack ODonoghue and the Flower girls were Emily O’Donoghue, Grace O’Donoghue and Rachel O‘Donoghue. The reception was held in Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee . A great day and night, was had by all in attendance. We wish Siobhan and Paul many happy years of married life together.
U-13 HURLERS
Congratulations to the Crotta U-13 hurlers who qualified for the North Kerry U-13 Final with a 1-04 to 0-05 victory over Causeway on Thursday evening 6th September in Causeway. Crotta led by 1-04 to 0-02 at half time. Everyone in the club wishes a speedy recovery to the Crotta player, Dominic Nolan who was injured in the game, hopefully he will be back in the Green and Red jersey very soon.

CAMOGIE
Commiserations to the Kerry Camogie team and their management who were defeated by Carlow in the All Ireland Junior final at Latten -Cullen Gaa grounds, home club to Nicky English, on Sunday 2nd September on the score of 1-11 to 1-03. It was a fantastic achievement to reach All Ireland final on their first year out, they will be the team to beat in 2013 championship!
BAG PACKING
St.Teresa’s National School will undertake Bag Packing to raise much needed funds on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th September in Dunnes Stores North Circular Road, Tralee. Volunteers are needed and the more we get the less everyone will have to do. Please contact school staff with your name if can help out.
CHURCH GATE COLLECTION
A Church gate collection for the Kerry GAA County board will be held at masses in St. Mary’s Church, Kilflynn on Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th September, please support.
CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS
The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer, Heather Sutton, Castletown, Kilflynn, for the weekly Crotta Hurling Club Lotto draw were: 12,17,22 and 28 at Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn on Monday 10th September, with a Jackpot of 8,600. However no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the Jackpot survived for another week. The Lucky dip prizes winner each receives €35: Elizabeth Moloney, Cappa, Kilflynn, Kitty Fealy, Abbeydorney and Michael O’Connell, Ballyrehan, Lixnaw. MINOR HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Abbeydorney/Crotta minor hurlers play Lixnaw on Sunday 16th September in the County Minor Hurling Championship Semi final, in Austin Stacks Park, Tralee at 1.30pm.
