Many congratulations to Páraic Shanahan, Clandouglas, Lixnaw on winning a Gold medal at the All Ireland fleadh ceol held in Cavan last weekend. Páraic is a member of the U12 hurling team and has participated for the club at scór for the last two years. Well done Páraic!

The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer, Mary Galvin, Crotta, Kilflynn, for the weekly Crotta Hurling Club Lotto draw were: 3,19,24 and 25 at Herbert’s Bar, Kilflynn on Monday 20th August, with a Jackpot of 8,300. However no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the Jackpot survived for another week. The Lucky dip prizes winner each receives €35: Dero Glavin, Abbeydorney, Sheila and Jerome O’Sullivan, Crotta Cross and Antoinette O’Connell, Rae, Kilflynn.

CROTTA TAKE HOME ROSE U-13 HURLING CUP 2012
Since the Rose Hurling Cup began 4 years ago it has become a fantastic success. On Saturday 18th August the Rose U13 Hurling Cup took place in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. Crotta, Causeway, Patrickswell of Limerick, South Kerry, Tulla from Clare and Whitechurch of Cork battled it out to become Rose Cup Champions 2012. After the competitive group games it was down to the semi finals with Causeway playing Patrickswell and Crotta taking on Tulla. 
After 2 great semi-finals Crotta and last year’s winners Patrickswell emerged to contest the Cup final with Causeway and Tulla playing in the Shield Final. In the Plate Final South Kerry defeated Whitechurch. In the Shield Tulla defeated Causeway 1-6 to 1-3 and in the Rose Cup Final Crotta came out on top on the scoreline of 1-6 to 0-4. Crotta captain John Quilter was delighted to collect the cup on behalf of his team from Kerry Footballer Paul Galvin, and Crotta Goalkeeper Aaron Murnane received the player of the tournament award from The South Australian Rose, Sarah Doherty. Well done Aaron also Congratulations and well done to the Crotta players and their mentors on this fantastic victory. Each team were presented with specially designed hurleys from sponsors Handcraft Hurleys. 
Thanks to John Griffin and his co-ordinators, sponsors Handcraft Hurleys, the Rose of Tralee Festival, Austin Stack Park, referees and anybody else who contributed to the successful Rose Hurling Cup 2012.

KERRY MINOR HURLERS
Well done to the Kerry Hurlers who had qualified for the Electric Ireland, All Ireland Minor Hurling B Championship Final, On Saturday 18th August at Moneygall, with a 1-20 to 3-12 victory over 
Kildare. Kerry led by 1-13 to 2-07 at the interval break. The Crotta hurling club was well represented by Tom B McElligott on the Kerry team.

FIXTURES
Kerry U-21 Hurlers play Kildare in The Bord Gais Energy, All Ireland U21 B Championship Semi final on Saturday 25th August at 3. 30 p.m. in Nenagh. Best of luck to Crotta player, Shane Nolan, Thomas Quille and Sean Weir and their Kerry U-21 team mates. 
Abbeydorney/Crotta minor hurlers play Kenmare in the County Minor Hurling Championship, on Sunday 26th August at 3pm in Kenmare. Best of luck to the Abbeydorney/ Crotta panel and their mentors.
