ST.SENANS GAA:
Both A and B U-12 teams put in huge performances in our final North Kerry League fixture which was played away against Ballyduff. The whole panel was utilised as both teams were missing numerous players on the night.
The A team got back to winning ways and cast aside the Listowel result with some fine football. Aodhan McKenna was solid in Goals whilst Timmy Dillon and Eamon Rohan mopped up everything in defence. Ryan Murphy had a fine game at wing back and was a clear man of the match winner. Ciaran Healy alongside him also had a strong game. James Canty and Cillian Trant dominated the midfield exchanges ensuring a good supply of ball to the forwards and a few points. Daniel O’Rourke was industrious throughout chipping in with some quality scores finishing with 1-8 (1-7 from play), with Denis Quille also in the half forward line equally scoring some fine points and a stand out second half goal. Damien Larkin also got on the scoresheet with a good goal and it was nice to see Brian Logue getting a deserved point after working hard all game. The A team won on a scoreline of 5-26 to 1-2
The B team saved their best football until last and what a performance. All players contributed to a workmanlike and determined effort that not only helped maintain their 100% record in all competitions this year but also secured the North Kerry League for the team a great result. From the start of the game every player was tigerish in the tackle and first to the ball again and again. The midfield fought for every ball with nothing easy being given by Ballyduff every ball was hard won. In the first half scores were at a premium but Senans kept in front and kept trying to get that bit of daylight between the teams. Eventually the persistence paid off and with the scoring of 2 goals in quick succession the team was on the home straight for victory. With some more fine scores before the end and no way through in the backs The team held out to win and ensure that all competitions entered were secured. A great achievement for a truly committed bunch of players.
With hardly anything separating the A and B teams this year the future is bright as every player is pushing another for places a good position to be in. Thanks to all parents and players for their continued support.
