NATIONAL SCHOOL RE-OPENS
St. Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn reopened, after the summer holidays on Thursday 30th August. While the weather had not been too kind I’m sure that many of the children were looking forward to being back with their friends again.
Back in June it seemed like September and back to school time was a long way off. But it has arrived and to most children it only seems like a few weeks since they put away their school bags for the summer. For adults the back to school date signals an end to summer and all that goes with it – normality has returned.
Twenty five children commenced their education in Junior Infants in St. Teresa’s N.S on Thursday. Best of luck to the children who are starting primary and post primary for the first time. This is a very special time of year for them, and one that will stay with them for many years to come. Good luck to the sixth class who will be having their last year of national education before they move into secondary school in 2013, Also best of luck to the Teachers in their new School term, Cead Mile Failte to Ciara Walsh, Tralee and Tina Enright, Listowel who have joined the teaching Staff at St. Teresa’s N. S. and we wish them every success. A Cead Mile Failte to the 14 girls and 11 boys starting in Junior Infants. Muireann Hussey, Zoe McCarthy, Clodagh McNamara, Ellen McKenna, Ella Mahoney, Megan Bradley Sadie Byrne, Tieanna Sheehy, Joanne O’Sullivan, Priya O’Donovan. Rosin Abeyta, Emma Buckey, Ciara O’Brien and Rachel O’Donoghue, Diarmuid O’Driscoll, Colin O’Sullivan, Conor Brennan, Oisin Heaton, Evan O’Sullivan, Bryan Quilter, Tomas O’Braoin, Ryan Hurley, Cillan Hurley, Matthew Ryan and Aidan Mooney.

CROTTA COISTE NA NOG NEWS
Congratulations to the Crotta U13 Players and Mentors on winning the Rose U13 Hurling Cup “A” title on Saturday 18th August in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. Crotta played and won all their group games. They then played Tulla (Clare) in the semi final and beat them 3-06 to 2-02. Patrickswell were their opponents in the final and this was a cracking match from start to finish. Patrickswell who incidentally were the holders of the Rose Cup started the brighter and scored two points without reply. However a pointed free from Barry Mahony following a foul on Darragh O’Donoghue and two great points from play by Adam O’Sullivan gave Crotta a one point lead at half time. Patrickswell equalised just after the restart and at this point were very much on top. Crotta withstood the onslaught though with some great play by the outstanding Aaron Murnane in goals plus a defensive unit of Eamon Rohan Brian O’Connell Dominic Nolan and Darragh Behan who hurled as if their lives depended on it. John Quilter(Capt) was prominent all through and eventually he turned the tide in Crotta’s favour. A brilliant piece of play by Sean Murnane and Darragh O’Donoghue who were causing all sorts of bother to their direct opponents, resulted in the Patrickswell keeper making a brilliant save which resulted in a 65. Barry Mahonys puck from the 65 went all the way to the net. An excellent point from play by Sean Murnane put Crotta four points to the good. When Darragh O’Donoghue broke through the Patrickswell defence as time ran out,he was upended as he was about to shoot. Barry Mahony once again pointed the free to complete the scoring. Final score Crotta 1-05 Patrickswell 0-03. Jubilant scenes followed the final score and well done to all. Captain John Quilter accepted the Rose Cup on behalf of Crotta . Aaron Murnane was awarded the Player of the Tournament Award. The following was the panel of Players: Aaron Murnane Dominic Nolan Daniel Quirke Darragh O’Donoghue Sean Murnane Darragh Murnane Padraig Hunt Daniel O’Rourke Brian O’Connell Cilliant Trant Tomas Dillon David O’Connell Aodhan Behan Daniel Hunt Adam O’Sullivan Barry Mahony James Sheehan Darragh Behan John Quilter Eamonn Rohan. Highlights of the tournament were Barry Mahony’s free taking, Adam O’Sullivan scoring four goals against South Kerry, Aaron Murnane’s great saves, Darragh O’Donoghue’s (2-02) against Tulla in the semi final, John Quilter pointing two line balls and the great defending by Crotta’s backs. All panel members played their part in this great win.

Playing with the advantage of a slight breeze there was only one team in it after the break and Crotta won on a scoreline of Kilmoyley 3-05 Crotta 8-09. scorers for Crotta Brandon Conway(3-02) Jordan Conway(3-01) Raymond Nolan(1-03)Barry Mahony (1-02) Adrian Mahony(0-01)
