COUNTY U-21 TILE FOR ABBEYDORNEY/ CROTTA HURLERS:
Pride of the place goes to all involved with the Abbeydorney/Crotta U-21 hurling panel who were crowned The Acorn Life County U-21 Hurling Champions, when they had a 3-06 to 0-11 victory over a gallant Causeway side played in attrious weather conditions at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, on Saturday afternoon, 3rd November. This was a truly historic occasion, and was a first win in the County Under 21 for Abbeydorney/Crotta side who last contested the County U-21 Championship final in 1990 with the final going to three replays and Kilmoyley eventually winning the title. The lads in green and red got off to a dream start with two goals from Shane Nolan in the 2nd and 7th minute after Causeway going ahead by two points from Paul McGrath, Abbeydorney/ Crotta played as a team from the start with Chris McCarthy at Full Back and Sean Weir at Centre Back Stephen O’Connor and Brendan O’Leary and Daniel OMahoney at midfield and Shane Nolan the danger man up front and Brian Leen one point, While Causeway had Paul McGrath in top form scoring 0-06, two points each from Darren Leahy and Colm Harty and one point from Muiris Delaney, it was the Abbeydorney/Crotta side who led by 2-04 to 0-07 at half time. In the second half lights had to be turned on at half time due to the darkness that fell Causeway put the pressure on in the second half but the backs played well for the Crotta /Abbeydorney side with the excellent work rate from the players with very good move at midfield that led to Sean O’Mahoneys goal on the second attempt. The full time whistle by Referee Diarmuid Carroll Ballyduff sounded to scenes of jubilations from the players, mentors and supporters from Abbeydorney and Crotta. Final Score: Abbeydorney/Crotta 3-06 to Causeway 0-11. County Hurling officer, Joe Walsh Kerry presented the Atlantic Oils Cup to victories Chris McCarthy Captain and Shane Nolan who scored 2-05 received the Acorn Life Man of Match trophy from County Hurling officer, Joe Walsh. TWO IN A ROW FOR KILFLYNN N.S
Congratulations and well done to St Teresa’s National School Football team, Kilflynn who had a 2-05 to 1-07 victory over a gallant Abbeydorney side in the St Brendans Board Area Final on Wednesday 24th November in the Sportsfield, Abbeydorney. It was a very entertaining, exciting and sporting game. The home side led by 1-04 to 1-02 at the interval break. Sinead Coleman accepted the St Brendan’s Board trophy and medals on behalf of the panel from Ciarraí Cumann na mBunscoil Runaí, Geraldine Behan. 
The victories Kilflynn N.S panel who retained the St Brendan Board Title were: Aodhan McKenna, Eamon Rohan, Daniel Quirke, Ryan McElligott, James Sheehan (1-00),Sinead Coleman(Capt), Darragh O’Donoghue (1-00), Darragh Murnane, Daniel O’Rourke (0-04), Sean Murnane (1-00) and Declan O’Donoghue. FASHION SHOW:
St Teresa’s National School, Kilflynn will hold a Fashion Show Fundraiser (in aid of the Astro-Turf pitch) in the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on Friday night 23rd November at 7.30p.m. Tickets are €20 each or 2 for €30. PALLAS/KILFLYNN & DISTRICT GUN CLUB:
The results of the annual long bird competition held at Parkers Bar, Kilflynn on 1st November 2012 were;
1st Michael Fuller 37 and 3/4 inches, 2nd Tom McKenna 37 inches, 3rd Pat McKenna 36 ½ inches
The committee would like to thank all members who participated and thank Mike Parker for an enjoyable night had by all. Also, congratulations to all members involved in successfully winning the Kerry Regional Game Council’s 2012 Vermin Competition. This is the fifth year in succession that the Pallas / Kilflynn & District Gun Club has won this competition. In addition the club went on the win the overall National NARGC Vermin Competition for a second year running, a fantastic achievement for such a small club.

LIXNAW GOLF SOCIETY:
The Society went to Tralee Golf Club last Saturday for the final outing of the year,Brendan Keane claimed first prize with a score of 33pts,2nd with 30pts was G. Hogan,3rd with 30pts was M. Devaney,4th with 29pts was E. Enright,5th with 28pts was N. Sullivan,6th with 28pts was J. Mc Carthy.The front nine was won by Pj Mc Auliffe with 16pts and the back nine by M. Fuller with 15pts.The Matchplay competition was won by M. Fuller and golfer of the year went to G. Hogan.

FINUGE ABU:
Congratulations and Well done to Finuge Senior football squad, on winning the Co Intermediate Championship on Sunday 4th November against Spa, in Austin Stack’s Park. Crotta Senior Captain Mike Lynch was a member of the victories Finuge panel, and Up next its Pallasgreen of Limerick on next Sunday – so best of luck to Finuge and hope ye go all the way.
HURLING HISTORY:
When Kerry and Kildare clashed in the All Ireland U -21 “B” Championship this year, it provided a rare co-incidence On opposing sides that day were the grandsons of two men who starred with Crotta over 60 years ago. The two U-21 players being Shane Nolan and Conor Kenny. Shane’s grandfather Tomasheen needs no introduction while Conor Kenny’s grandfather was Phil Kenny of Borrisokane, Co. Tipperary.
In the 1945 championship Phil lined out at No.5 for Crotta with Tomasheen again at No.8. Phil later played for Tipp as did his brother Sean and Paddy, During this time, Phil was working as a barman in Jess McCarthy’s bar in Tralee with his Aunt Mrs McCarthy.

AWARDS NIGHT:
The North Kerry Hurling Board Awards Night will be held on Friday, 30th November in Ballyroe Heights Hotel.

ECDL

POST PRIMARY HURLING BLITZ:
Congratulations to the Gaelcholaiste Chiarrai 1st year students on winning the Post-Primary 1st year hurling blitz in Killarney, on Friday 26th October. Crotta was well represented by John Quilter (Captain), Eamon Shanahan and Jeaic McKenna – who all played very well

DARTS:
Micheal O’Sullivan and Paud Twomey won the first Turkeys of the Season on Saturday night 3rd November in the weekly Darts Double Tournament, in Parker’s Lounge Bar, when they defeated Mike Fealy and Mike McCarthy in the Final. The weekly Darts Doubles Tournament will continue this Saturday night 10th November at 10.30 p.m. The winners will receive a Fresh Turkey each. Names MUST be in for 10.15 p.m. NO Names after this Time. First game of the Tournament must start at 10.30p.m. Sharp.

COUNTY U-14 FINAL:
The Crotta and Ardfert hurlers will contest the County U-14 League final, this Sunday 11th November. Please check with officers for Venue and Time.

JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR:
Massive congratulations to The Kerryman Journalist Marisa Reidy, Abbeydorney who won the National Newspapers of Ireland award for Regional Journalist of the Year.

AUSTIN STACKS ABU:
Congratulations to Austin Stacks hurlers who bridged a 81 year gap (at Adult level) when they captured the County Junior hurling championship title with 4-10 to 0-09 victory over Duagh on Saturday 27th October in Abbeydorney.

CROTTA LOTTO RESULTS:
The four numbers picked out of the drum by Independent Observer, Eileen Brennan, Rae, Kilflynn for the weekly Crotta Hurling Club Lotto draw were: 8,10,21 and 23 at Parker’s Pub, Kilflynn on Monday night, 5th November with a Jackpot of 2,500. However no one came up with the correct combination of numbers and the Jackpot survived for another week. The Lucky dip prizes winner each receives €35: Kathleen Weir, Killahan, Abbeydorney, Sonny McElligott, Lixnaw, and Grainne Herbert, Kilflynn.

ALL STAR AWARD:
Congratulations to Ballyduff senior hurler, Paud Costello, who received a Christy Ring All Star award at GAA/GPA Gala Banquet in Dublin on Friday 26th October. Paud was the only Kerry player to receive an award at this level, he was also received the “Man of the Match” award in the County hurling Senior final recently. Well done Paud.
